My name is 簡慈恩 (Chien, Tzu-En) or just call me Steven. I am from Taiwan and living in Stockholm.
I study chemistry especially in physical chemistry. I have PhD degree in chemical engineering at KTH.
I have been working with advanced vacuum system for more than 10 years, including design, construction, operation and maintenance. Other than that I also had some experiences in material synthesis, characterisation, micro-device fabrication and application for lab-on-a-chip.
Outside work, I like arts and have some photography and 3D printing projects.
Experience
PhD Researcher
KTH, Sweden
2018-2024

Project: Near-ambient pressure velocity map imaging
In the group, we built a UHV instrument to investigation of molecular spectroscopy, molecular reaction dynamics, kinetics and mechanisms on simple surfaces under ultra-high vacuum or near-ambient pressure conditions.
§ Product development: Developed analytical instruments for catalytic reactions.
§ Mechanical design: Led CAD design and simulations.
§ Project management: Procurement, construction and documented prototypes.
§ Testing: Managed commissioning and analysed experimental data.
Research Assistant
Academia Sinica, Taiwan
2016-2018
Project: Application of thin film materials
We focus on the synthesis and application of 2D-materials based field effect transistors. I helped improving the processes in each sub-group and find new application based on the characteristic of materials.
§ Synthesis of 2D materials by CVD method.
§ Fabrication of 2D-materials based FETs.
§ Devices testing in biosensor or strain sensor.
Research Assistant
NCKU, Taiwan
2013-2015
Project: TiO2 based catalytic reactions
§ Investigation of molecules adsorption and reaction on TiO2 surfaces with infrared spectroscopy in the UHV system.
§ Synthesis of TiO2, sample characterization by XRD, UV-Vis spectroscopy, BET, SEM, TEM, XPS and Raman spectroscopy and photoactivity test.
